Evaluation:

Breast lift surgery is one of the main ways to combat the effects of sagging breasts, but many are not familiar with this kind of aesthetic surgery.

Dr. Elizabeth Harris will evaluate your condition and determine the best course of action for cosmetic surgery. She will then talk about the details of the surgery, which include the removal and contouring of breast tissue to achieve the desired look. Information will also be provided on risks associated with surgery, scheduling options, and recovery time.

Procedure:

Our center mostly performs breast lift surgery with the lollipop incision, which results in minimal scarring.

Full Lollipop Breast Lift

A lollipop incision is a periareolar incision that extends vertically at the base of the areola. It provides the most amount of lift with the least amount of scarring. Dr. Harris does not use the anchor incision that requires a large inframammary crease incision.

Partial Breast Lift

We may also recommend a partial breast lift, which is ideal for women who have had prior breast augmentation surgery. In rare cases, Elizabeth Harris may opt to use an alternate incision called an inframammary crease incision. This surgical technique is typically reserved for patients who have mild sagging of the breasts and the procedure is less invasive than the full version.

Hospital Location

Dr. Harris performs breast lifts at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Physicians Ambulatory Surgery Center During the procedure.

Recovery:

After your procedure, follow up visits are required to ensure proper healing and to give each patient the chance to address any concerns they may have. Follow-up visits are usually scheduled for one week after surgery, then at three weeks, six weeks, and lastly three months. Total recovery time can vary among patients. You will be given an estimate of expected recovery time.

Schedule & Plan Time for Recovery

Breast lift surgery is considered major surgery, meaning that there is some level of risk involved. Mastopexy can take anywhere from one to several hours and is often performed as a part of breast augmentation surgery. Consult your doctor if you are considering a breast lift. Other ways to prep for surgery include:

  • Eating healthy and exercising in the weeks leading up to surgery
  • Practice sleeping on your back since you won’t be able to sleep on your stomach post-surgery
  • Refrain from tobacco and alcohol use for several weeks prior to surgery to lower the risk of complications
  • Talk to your physician if any questions or concerns come up prior to surgery
  • Refrain from medication that thins blood like aspirin

Pricing and Follow-Up

Dr. Harris fully personalizes each procedure to meet the patient’s individual needs, which will be determined during the initial consultation. Due to the personalized nature of breast lift surgery, pricing will vary depending on Dr. Harris’ recommendations and patient requests.

Breast Lift FAQs

What is the benefit of a breast lift?

A breast lift can take years off your body by correcting a drooping bustline, restoring your curves to their youthful state.

Can one have both a breast lift and breast augmentation at the same time?

Breast lift, which takes one or more hours to complete, is often performed in conjunction with breast augmentation. If your breasts sag but you would rather avoid the scars of mastopexy, please set a consultation to speak with us about an alternative surgery. The tightening of the breasts are usually accompanied with lateral liposuction and sculpting of the breasts and lateral chest.  This results in a more dramatic result with long-term tightening benefits.

How long does breast lift surgery take?

Breast lift procedures generally take 2 ½ -3 hours in length depending on the skin laxity, degree of sagging, and size of the breasts.

What are some risks that might come along with having a breast lift procedure?

Breast lift risks include scarring, temporary bruising, swelling, and loss of feeling in the breasts or nipples. However, breast lifts are considered an extremely safe, effective procedure.

What is done during the breast lift surgery procedure?

During the procedure, excess skin and tissue are trimmed away and the bustline is tightened and lifted. Remaining tissue and the nipples are also repositioned for the most natural-looking results.
